Gradual Site Creation
When using this method for site creation the validation rule object-has-multiple-site-allocations will not detect dependancies within the object repository site - this rule should be toggled after each site batch to check intersite dependancies
When dealing with many sites in an MT migration, it may be desirable to add sites gradually to avoid having to deal with large number of validation issues simultaneously
To achieve this, post initial discovery/ allocation/ validation step.
From Menu select Allocation->Sites, then +Create New Site.
Then populate values for the repository site, then Save New Site
Parameter | Entry |
---|---|
Source SiteID | enter any name for source repository |
Target SiteID | enter any name for target repository |
Site Name | enter Site name as required |
Source CUCM Clusters | Select Source Cluster |
WxC-MT:Webex Location | Select any Webex Location |
Country Code | Select Country Code |
Time Zone | Select Time Zone |
Next step is to allocate all source CUCM device pools to the repository site
To perform this task we will use the Bulk Change facility in wrangler_. From Menu select Bulk Change->Bulk Change, then +Create Bulk Change
From Filters, select cucm-device-pool, source cluster then Search & Find Objects
When device pools have been found and displays, select Next
Under Edit Overrides
Parameter | Value |
---|---|
Allocated Site | Populate with the Object Repository site name |
Change At | Select ‘During Site Load’ |
Review Bulk Changes
Then Apply Bulk Changes
On completion of the Bulk Change, go to Allocation->Sites
Note: Under the Customer Objects Row under Source D/L/U (Device/Line/User) that all objects are currently allocated to the Customer level
We now want to reallocate object to the Repository Site. To do this, select Issues from the menu, then select Re-Allocate Migration
On completion of the Reallocation, We can now progress to select the sites that we want to migrate in the first batch. To do this, either go to Allocation->Sites and use Excel export/import to create sites - process here Gradual Site Creation | Process to create sites using Excel , or go to Issues, then Site Suggestions tab and process manually as follows
From the results, select only the sites that you wish to create in initial batch, either Map to existing Webex Location site by selecting the +MT Site Existing LOC button and select the site that it should map to and/or select the+ MT Site Template “Webex Location” button to use the selected site to create a new Webex Location
In my sample I will create a new Webex Location
and second site migrating to an existing Webex Location
Now go to Allocation-> Sites, then
Process to create sites using Excel
As an option to create sites manually via Site Suggestions, site may also be created using Excel as follows.
From Menu, go Allocation->Sites, then Import/Export
Select Export Sites, then download + open in Excel
In Excel populate Sites tab fields as required

Save File - then Select Import Sites, Import Tab then select the modified spredsheet and submit

Next step is to run Reallocation to allocate object from the Repository to the migrating sites. From here just progress migration as per normal
It is important to always run Re-Allocation after added any additional sites
Then continue migration as normal
